About the Role

This is a senior design leadership opportunity at a fast-growing, Series A/B-stage AI procurement intelligence company serving large industrial customers across Europe. The platform combines AI agents with human expertise to rethink how procurement decisions are made — making high-impact cost choices legible, trustworthy, and actionable for industrial buyers.

As Head of Product Design, you will define the interaction paradigm for an agent-native product, build and lead a team of ~4 product designers, and establish design as a strategic partner alongside product and engineering. Your work will directly shape how AI and humans collaborate at scale, and will have measurable impact on profitability for large industrial enterprises.

This role is on-site in Munich, Germany. Visa sponsorship is not available.

What You'll Do

Define how humans and AI agents work together across the product — evolving a screen-first experience into a truly agent-native one where buyers supervise, steer, and handle exceptions.

Create the interaction paradigm for AI-driven procurement workflows, including mental models, UI patterns, and frameworks that make complex decisions trustworthy and accessible to non-analyst users.

Translate technically dense procurement concepts — such as should-costing, raw material indices, and contract leakage — into clear, actionable UX.

Own and evolve the design system and component architecture to support agent-driven development and rapid iteration.

Build, hire, and lead a team of ~4 product designers, setting standards for craft quality, delivery speed, and strategic impact.

Establish and lead a UX research program: planning studies, recruiting participants, conducting research, and synthesizing insights to inform product strategy.

Drive company-wide user understanding and advocate for real user problems at the leadership level.

Operate fluidly between strategic design leadership and hands-on execution as the situation demands.

What We're Looking For

Required:

6+ years in product design, with 2+ years leading design teams at high-growth technology companies known for design quality.

Proven track record hiring, building, and leading a product design team of ~4 designers and establishing team processes.

Experience owning and running a UX research program end-to-end (planning, recruiting, conducting studies, synthesizing insights).

Deep experience designing for enterprise procurement or complex B2B workflows, including hands-on familiarity with concepts like should-costing and contract leakage translated into UX.

Strong systems thinking — designing in frameworks, patterns, and component architectures, not just individual screens.

Genuine fluency with AI as a design material: a clear point of view on LLMs, agents, and automation UX.

Demonstrated ability to make information-dense, data-heavy products an asset rather than a liability.

Strong collaborator with product and engineering; comfortable operating in a product trio model.

Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Nice to Have:

German language skills (not required).

Background or exposure to industrial supply chain, manufacturing procurement, or ERP-adjacent tooling.

Location & Work Arrangement

Location: Munich, Bavaria, Germany

Work arrangement: On-site

Visa sponsorship: Not available — candidates must have the right to work in Germany

Find more English Speaking Jobs in Germany on Arbeitnow
