Visiting Finance Analyst

<h3>About the Role</h3><p style="min-height:1.5em">A fast-growing, Series A/B EdTech startup based in Berlin is looking for a <strong>Visiting Finance Analyst</strong> to join its Finance team on a full-time, on-site basis. This is a rare early-career opportunity to work directly alongside senior leadership — including the Director of Finance &amp; People — and gain hands-on experience building a modern finance function from the ground up. You'll have real ownership of workstreams, direct access to decision-makers, and a front-row seat to how a high-growth tech company manages its finances. The company operates a widely used AI-powered learning platform with tens of millions of users globally across more than 30 countries.</p><h3>What You'll Do</h3><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Work directly alongside the Director of Finance &amp; People as a hands-on contributor, acting as a trusted right hand across projects and priorities.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Prepare decision briefs and support cross-functional initiatives, keeping projects on track across Finance, Growth, Engineering, and Legal.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and coordinate with external auditors.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Contribute to accurate, reliable financial reporting across multiple jurisdictions.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Assist with operational controlling, including budget planning, financial forecasting, and liquidity tracking.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Build monthly reports, conduct ad hoc deep dives, and translate data into clear, decision-ready analysis.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Identify and implement automation opportunities using AI tools, low-code platforms, and smart integrations to reduce manual workflows.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Help evolve the finance function from static reporting toward dynamic, AI-enhanced financial intelligence.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Coordinate with external tax advisors, auditors, and legal providers.</p></li></ul><h3>What We're Looking For</h3><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Must-haves:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in business, finance, economics, or a related field.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Professional working proficiency in both <strong>German and English</strong>, written and spoken.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Foundational knowledge of accounting principles sufficient to support financial close and reporting processes.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Proficiency in Excel and hands-on experience analyzing financial data to generate reports and inform decisions.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience supporting month-end, quarter-end, or year-end close processes, audit coordination, or multi-jurisdiction financial reporting.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience with financial planning tasks such as budgeting, forecasting, or liquidity tracking.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience using automation tools, AI applications, or low-code platforms to streamline finance or operational workflows.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Nice-to-haves:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Prior internship, coursework, or project experience in finance, accounting, controlling, or consulting.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Familiarity with German accounting standards (HGB) or IFRS reporting requirements.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Familiarity with BI tools or data visualization platforms for financial dashboards.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience working in a high-growth startup or technology environment.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Mindset &amp; soft skills:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Proactive, self-driven, and pragmatic — you take ownership without being asked.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strong analytical thinker who can turn messy data into clear, actionable insights.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Genuinely curious about AI tools and the future of finance automation.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Comfortable working closely with leadership in a lean, fast-moving team.</p></li></ul><h3>Location &amp; Work Arrangement</h3><p style="min-height:1.5em">This role is based <strong>on-site in Berlin, Germany</strong>.
