Anti-Trafficking Education

Recognise warning signs, understand safe recruitment, and know your rights as a worker abroad.

Universal warning signs

  • Recruiter asks for money before you receive an offer
  • Job offer arrives without an interview
  • Documents (passport, ID) are held by employer or agent
  • Salary and terms differ from what you were promised
  • You are asked to travel on a visit or tourist visa to work
  • You are told to lie to immigration officers
  • You cannot freely leave your accommodation
  • Your movements or phone are monitored
  • Wages are withheld to 'repay' recruitment costs (debt bondage)

If any of these apply to your situation, contact your embassy, local police, or a worker-support organisation via Emergency Contacts.
